Terms & Content Policy

1. What pinthe.world is
pinthe.world lets you place a mark (a pin with an image, a name, a short text and a link) on a 3D Earth for one calendar year. Anyone can boost an existing mark with a payment; boosts raise the mark's total value, rank and visibility. Every 1 January a new, empty Earth starts; past years stay online as an archive.
A mark is a digital placement. It is not an investment, a token, a security or a right to any payout. Payments are one-off and non-refundable once the mark is published, except as stated below or required by law.
2. Pricing
- The minimum price of a new mark equals its sequence number for the year (mark #1 costs 1 USD, mark #1 284 costs 1 284 USD). The sequence number is assigned when your payment completes; if several people pay at the same moment, your number can be slightly higher than the one you were shown.
- You may pay more than the minimum. Paying more does not change the minimum for the next mark.
- Boosts start at 1 USD. A boost never changes the owner or the content of a mark.
- Prices are in USD. Payments are processed by Stripe; we never see your card details.
3. Review before publication
Every new mark is checked by a human before it appears on the Earth (usually within 24 hours). We look at the image, the text and the linked website. If we decline a mark, we refund the full payment and keep the sequence number unused. Boosts are not reviewed because they do not change content.
4. Content Policy
We keep this short on purpose. Three tiers:
4.1 Never allowed — removed immediately, may be reported to authorities
- Child sexual abuse material or any sexualisation of minors.
- Terrorist or violent extremist content.
- Malware, phishing, scams, fraud, fake shops, deceptive or misleading links.
- Any content or link that is illegal in the European Union.
4.2 Legal in places, but not allowed here — forbidden by these Terms
- Adult content: marks may not contain or link to pornography, sexually explicit content, adult services or other 18+ content.
- Gambling, betting and casino services.
- Drugs, drug paraphernalia and unregulated pharmaceuticals.
- Weapons sales.
- Hate speech, harassment, or content that attacks people based on who they are.
- Impersonation of brands, organisations or people you do not represent.
- Personal data of others (doxxing).
4.3 Allowed
Businesses, personal sites, projects, open source, charities, communities, cities, schools, memorials, opinions, jokes, art — anything else that is legal and not listed above.
We decide in our sole discretion whether content falls into a forbidden tier. We may remove a published mark at any time if it turns out to violate this policy or the linked site changes to something that does. Removed marks are not refunded.
5. Your content and licence
You keep the rights to your image and text. You confirm you are allowed to use them and you grant us a worldwide, royalty-free licence to display them on pinthe.world (including archived years and share cards) for as long as the site exists.
6. Reporting content
Every published mark has a Report this pin link. Anyone can use it to notify us of content they believe is illegal or violates this policy. Tell us what the problem is, where exactly it is, why you think it is illegal, and your name and e-mail (not needed for child sexual abuse material). We confirm receipt, review the notice diligently and without undue delay, and inform you of our decision and how to contest it. This is our notice-and-action mechanism under Article 16 of the EU Digital Services Act (Regulation (EU) 2022/2065).
If your mark was removed or declined and you disagree, reply to the e-mail you received within 6 months. We will re-examine the decision.
7. Refunds
- Mark declined in review: full refund, automatically.
- Mark removed later for a policy violation: no refund.
- Boosts: non-refundable, except when the boosted mark is declined in review before publication (then refunded).
- Duplicate or mistaken payments: contact us within 14 days.
8. Availability and changes
We aim to keep the site and archived years online but cannot guarantee uninterrupted availability. We may change these Terms; material changes will be announced on the site.
9. Privacy
We store the data you enter in a mark, your e-mail address, your IP address (fraud prevention) and payment metadata from Stripe (never card numbers). Your e-mail is used for receipts, review status and policy notices only. Reporters' data is used to handle their notice. We do not sell data and use no advertising trackers. To exercise your data-protection rights, e-mail us. We also measure campaign sources, form openings and paid pins using a signed 30-minute journey token passed within this site, without analytics cookies or browser storage. These measurements contain no IP address or e-mail, are kept for up to 180 days, and respect Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control. A paid pin is linked to its campaign source.
